Winter Solstice Day of Going Within
December 21, 2024
Gentle day of winter quiet
For people throughout history and spiritual traditions, midwinter has been a profound time of ritual, reflection, and renewal.
The days around the winter solstice on December 21 are the darkest time of the year, when the days are short and the nights seem impossibly long. From this dark place, however, new light is born out of the womb of winter as the sun begins its journey to brighter days.
We can also follow the sun’s example by taking a deep pause for rest during this time of year. All of the busyness and noise that our society presents to us over the holiday season seems to be the exact opposite of what this season is actually inviting us to do.
Day of quiet at the Forest
We invite you to come to the Forest on the winter solstice, Saturday, December 21, 2024, for some nourishing quiet time to go within and rest. Our chapel will be available for the day, a quiet warm nest to hold you in comfort during the winter darkness.
The property will be in silence.
The winter solstice is to us a deep time of solitude and introspection, so we won’t be offering any official programming. We’re simply inviting you to come and rest.
You can come and go as you please during the daylight hours. The doors of the chapel will be closed to create a safe sanctuary, and you can come in even if other people are inside. You can meditate, lay down, read, look out the window, and so on.
Details
You can come and go anytime you like between daylight hours. We do require registration for day use, so you may either register online here or when you arrive on the property.
Suggestion donation: $10.
