Residency Program: Residential Immersion

Our Residential Immersion Program offers one-month experiences in contemplative living within a community setting. This program gives you an opportunity to live in harmony within a residential contemplative community for a month-long period. Do you have a desire to live contemplatively and are you seeking help in learning how to live this way? With this program, you can sample different contemplative practices and spiritual tools to deepen your experience.

Your experience in the program will be different than coming on a personal retreat. Personal retreats are often focused on deep private contemplation and meditation, apart from the community. The Residential Immersion Program, on the other hand, immerses you in the experience of living and working with others who integrate contemplative practices into their daily lives. This means that you’ll enter into the daily schedule of the resident community, including meditation, meal times, work projects, and community events. While a portion of the program (up to five days) can be in solitude, an important component of the program is living in community.

In this program, you’ll:

• Immerse yourself in the resident community’s daily meditation schedule (7:00 a.m. meditation is optional).
• Engage in a work practice for three hours per day, five days per week. Your work project will be identified as part of your application process.
• Participate in kitchen clean-up after meals alongside the resident community.
• Enter the rotation for supper meal preparation (warming and serving pre-cooked meals) at least once per week.

Multiple month residencies may be available, subject to cabin availability. Partial residencies of two to three weeks are also available at a pro-rated cost.

In order to participate in this program, you’ll undergo an application process and interview to explore if this is a fit for your needs and our community. Rates

Standard cabin: $1,500 per month (includes all meals)

Hermitage: $2,700 per month (includes all meals)

The normal rate for single occupancy in a standard cabin for a month is $2,550 or $4,500 for the Hermitage. The reduced rate is offered in exchange for three hours of work per day (five days a week) within the community.
